His second book on police – Policing the Police – an analytical study of the philosophy and field dynamics of the policing in practice – was published recently.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;	The book highlights various problem areas including defective selection and recruitment, unsound training and unhealthy job culture and identifies likely solutions for its redemption.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;	Mr.Praveen Kumar, born in Mangalore, had joined the Indian Police Service in 1978 as a Deputy Superintendent of Police and had worked in various parts of the State.  He worked as Superintendent of Police in State Intelligence, Corps of Detectives and as a Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bangalore City Armed Reserve Force).  At present, he is servicing as Superintendent of Police (Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement Cell ) in Bangalore.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;	Policing the Police is his second work on the subject.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;	The first one Police for the New Age was published in 1992.
